About Me

Welcome to my website! This is my fifth year teaching at River Mill Academy.

Prior to working at River Mill, I worked as an art dealer internationally. After realizing that my favorite part of my job was discussing art and history with clients (as well as the traveling, of course), I decided to return to the United States and work towards becoming a teacher.

I have received a master's degree in teaching from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, as well as a master's degree in Medieval Studies at the University of York in the United Kingdom. Prior to this, I received my bachelor's degree in history at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. I was pretty devastated when Marquette (majorly) lost to UNC in the NCAA tournament.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, baking, going on walks with my husband and puppy (Penda, aka Panda...can be seen to the right), French things, traveling, and cooking. I also love hanging out with my parents' dog, Reagan (a queen among canines! You can see her dressed as the Pope on the right) and exploring the Triangle (I live in Morrisville). My favorite time period in history (both to learn about and to teach) is still the Middle Ages, but I also love the Ancient World, Enlightenment Europe, and the Napoleonic Wars. In Civics, I really enjoy learning about and discussing the Supreme Court.

I encourage all my students and their parents to contact me with any questions that they might have. I look forward to a great year!
